Events listed are not necessarily endorsed or organized by UFPJ. This calendar is maintained as a resource for the entire peace and justice movement. For further information about any event listed, please click on the event listing and contact the person and/or email address listed as the contact for the specific event.

When looking at events in a particular category, please note that states appear in alphabetical order according to their postal code, not their name. E.g. North Carolina is listed before New Jersey, because "NC" comes before "NJ.

San Francisco Study Group: Socialism - The Antidote to Economic Meltdown and War
Weekly Event , Alternate Tuesdays: Jan. 19; Feb. 2 and 16; Mar. 2, 16, and 30.
Tuesday, January 19th 2010 07:00pm
San Francisco, CA USA

Alternate Tuesdays starting January 19 , 5:30 PM in Berkeley and 7:00 PM in San Francisco Study Group on Socialism: The Antidote to Economic Meltdown and War

Join a six-session study of Socialism on Trial, the official record of the testimony by James P. Cannon at one of the most important political trials in U.S. history. Defending himself in court in against charges of sedition for opposing U.S. imperialist aims in WWII, Cannon explains key Marxist theory and elucidates how socialism would transform the world and why it’s worth fighting for. The lessons from this case are indispensible tools for today’s anti-capitalist fighters and those interested in demystifying the current economic crisis and seeking alternatives to corporate rule.

The discussion group takes place on alternate Tuesdays, January 19 through March 30 at two different locations. The San Francisco study group will meet 7:00-8:30pm at New Valencia Hall (travel information and address listed above). The Berkeley study group will meet 5:30-7pm on the UC Berkeley campus, 374-A Boalt Hall (School of Law), at Bancroft and Piedmont Streets. Join anytime; everyone is welcome. Both venues are wheelchair accessible.
